The polymer optical fiber (POF) allows to transfer the excitation light to the sensor and the sensor response back to the meter in PreSens setups. This is ideal for non-invasive and non-destructive measurements of several parameters like pH, O2 and CO2.

This polymer optical fiber (POF) is used in PreSens setups as a light guide between the transmitter and the sensor. It allows for non-invasive and non-destructive measurements. It has ST connectors and is compatible with the OXY-1 ST oxygen meter. For meters with SMA connectors (like the pH-1 SMA HP5 and the CO2-1 SMA), an SMA-ST-Adapter is required to interface the meter and the optical fiber. The POF comes in a standard length of 2.5 m.
Optical sensors offer several advantages that render them particularly well-suited for controlling small sample volumes:
- They are small
- The signal does not depend on the flow rate of the sample
- They allow for non-invasive measurement
